In Ukraine, Lomonosov and Pushkin have been named symbols of Russian imperialism.
The Ukrainian Institute of National Memory has recognized the scholar Mikhail Lomonosov, poets Alexander Pushkin and Mikhail Lermontov, as well as painter Vasily Surikov and writer Ivan Turgenev as symbols of Russian imperialism.
The list also includes Admiral Pavel Nakhimov, Emperors Nicholas I and Nicholas II, commander Alexander Suvorov, and Emperor Peter I. Objects dedicated to all the individuals included in this list must be removed from public spaces in Ukraine.
