Kyiv is ready for negotiations to end the war, but will not reduce the Armed Forces and will not recognize temporarily occupied territories as Russian, stated the Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN in response to the proposal from the US authorities.
Kyiv is ready to discuss Donald Trump's peace plan, but Ukraine's territorial sovereignty cannot become a subject of bargaining. This was stated on Thursday, November 20, by the Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Kristina Hayovishin, at a UN Security Council briefing in New York.
"Ukraine has officially received from the American side a draft plan of the Trump administration for a peaceful settlement," Hayovishin confirmed. "We agree to work on the provisions of the plan in such a way as to ensure a fair end to the war," she emphasized.
Kyiv's 'Red Lines' in Response to Trump's Plan
According to the deputy representative, Kyiv is ready for constructive negotiations, including at the leadership level, but there are a number of 'red lines'. Thus, Ukraine does not recognize temporarily occupied territories as Russian. "Our land is not for sale," Hayovishin stated.
Kyiv will not agree to limitations on self-defense, as well as on the size and capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Ukrainian authorities will not allow restrictions on the issue of alliance choices. The Ukrainian side will continue to counter "terror and genocide," which underlie Russian aggression and undermine Ukrainian identity, particularly at the language level, the diplomat added.
Kyiv continues to insist on the principle of "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine and nothing about Europe without Europe." "Russia must be forced to retreat in economic, political, and military relations," stated the Permanent Representative to the UN.
