Scientists stated that on November 7, the most powerful magnetic storm of the current year will hit Earth.
Experts warned that on Friday, November 7, Earth is expected to enter the zone of a large coronal hole. At the same time, the planet will have to endure the arrival of two plasma clouds ejected as a result of significant solar flares that occurred two days ago. Scientists have called November 7 the most challenging geomagnetic day of the year.
Moreover, it seems that Earth has already entered the plasma stream from the coronal hole a few hours ago. "The near-Earth space was already disturbed yesterday against the backdrop of the magnetic storms that occurred," scientists noted. Experts also recorded signs that the magnetic storms would transition to strong events of category G3 within a couple of hours.
"Preliminary modeling indicated that the densest parts of the solar ejections would pass by Earth, and only the peripheral areas would affect the planet," emphasized Russian specialists. In this scenario, today's magnetic storms should not exceed the G4 threshold (level 4 on a 5-point scale).
