Former President Zourabichvili will also be subject to sanctions.
A possible ban by the Constitutional Court of Georgia on radical opposition parties will improve the domestic political situation, stated Irakli Kadagashvili, a deputy from the ruling 'Georgian Dream'.
"We need to end the era of total confrontation (of radicals) with the constitution, democracy, and the state in Georgia," he said in an interview with the 'Rustavi 2' television company.
According to him, "confrontation with elections, the will of the people, and democratic institutions cannot and should not be the norm."
"This is the goal of our lawsuit in the Constitutional Court against the parties that pursue a policy of total confrontation," Irakli Kadagashvili stated.
The day before, the Constitutional Court registered a lawsuit from 'Georgian Dream' against three radical parties: the 'United National Movement', the 'Coalition for Change', and 'Lelo – Strong Georgia'. A verdict must be issued within nine months. The Constitution of Georgia prohibits the functioning of such parties that advocate for the overthrow of power and violate the territorial integrity of the country, promote war and violence.
In turn, the deputy chair of the parliamentary faction of the ruling party, Rimma Beradze, noted the negative role of former president Salome Zourabichvili in the political processes in Georgia, calling her an "infiltrated person."
"Zourabichvili is an example of which we are ashamed. Today, she does everything to the detriment of Georgia's national interests," Rimma Beradze stated.
The former president is calling on citizens to engage in active street protests against the policies of 'Georgian Dream'.
Earlier, Georgian expert Petre Mamradze stated that "a possible ban on the anti-national Georgian opposition through the Constitutional Court would be a blessing for the state."
