"Joint patrols" in the South China Sea, organized by the Philippines with the participation of countries not related to the region, have seriously undermined peace and stability there. This was stated by a spokesperson for the Southern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy, Tian Junli.
He made this statement after the Philippines conducted the so-called "joint patrol" from October 30 to 31. As Tian Junli noted, "recent events once again confirm that the Philippines acts as a troublemaker in the South China Sea and regional stability."
He added that such activities aimed at inciting unrest in the South China Sea "are under our strict control." According to the command representative, it has mobilized forces to closely track and monitor the actions of the Philippine side.
Tian Junli also noted that units of the regional command of the PLA are in a state of heightened combat readiness and will resolutely defend the country's sovereignty as well as its maritime rights and interests.
Earlier, the Chinese Ministry of Defense called on the United States to immediately withdraw its medium-range missile system "Typhoon" from the Philippines.
