During a meeting with the new US ambassador to Denmark, Kenneth Havery, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen raised the issue of Greenland, which Donald Trump has repeatedly sought to claim.
He stated this in a comment to the TV channel TV2.
According to Rasmussen, he spoke with the newly appointed US ambassador for about an hour, which is quite long for a first meeting with the head of the embassy.
He added that he raised the issue of US interest in Greenland during the conversation with Havery, and when asked whether the States should 'not touch' Greenland, he replied: 'Yes, they should.'
'And the US in general should too, and Americans know this well,' Rasmussen believes.
The new US ambassador to Denmark, Kenneth Havery, co-founder of PayPal and a longtime friend of American billionaire Elon Musk, took office on Wednesday, November 5.
Since Trump took office, relations between Denmark and the US have become strained. This occurred against the backdrop of Trump expressing his desire to acquire Greenland, the resource-rich Danish territory in the Arctic, citing 'security considerations.'
