In the U.S., a Warning Has Been Issued About the Threat of Air Traffic Suspension

U.S. authorities may completely close the country's airspace due to flight safety threats. The possible measure is related to the ongoing shutdown, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated in an interview with CNBC.

"If we deemed it unsafe, we would close all airspace," he said.

On October 1, a shutdown began in the U.S. — a suspension of government operations. In such conditions, only those who ensure the protection of life and property (doctors, military personnel, etc.) and a number of other individuals (such as the president and congress members) continue to work. Approximately 1.4 million government employees have either been placed on unpaid leave or are working without pay.

The current shutdown has become the second longest after the 35-day funding gap at the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019, which occurred during Donald Trump's first presidential term.

The Senate has already failed to pass the budget 12 times. One of the reasons is the Democrats' demand to increase healthcare spending.

Earlier, CNN warned of years of delays in nuclear developments due to the shutdown in the U.S., and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that there could be delays in salary payments to American military personnel by November 15.
