In Britain - 10 injured after knife attack on train

Ten people have been taken to hospital, nine of them with life-threatening injuries, following a knife attack on a train in Cambridgeshire in eastern England. Police arrested two individuals and are establishing motives.

Ten people have been taken to hospital following a knife attack on a train traveling from Doncaster in northern England to King's Cross station in London. Nine of them, according to preliminary reports, sustained life-threatening injuries. This was reported on the night of Sunday, November 2, by the British Transport Police.

One person has non-life-threatening injuries. Police estimate that this is a serious incident.

The emergency occurred near Huntingdon (Cambridgeshire) 120 kilometers north of London. Police received the alert at 19:42. Armed officers immediately arrived at the station along with medics. They arrested two individuals on the train and took them to the station.

The counter-terrorism police are providing support in the investigation, and motives are being established.

"Our work at the station continues and will take some time. A cordon has been established, and trains are currently not running on this section, as several roads have also been closed," noted Police Chief Chris Casey.

Starmer: Horrific incident raises deep concern

The situation was commented on by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. "The horrific incident on the train near Huntingdon raises deep concern. My thoughts are with all those affected, and I thank the emergency services for their swift actions," the head of the government wrote on social media platform X. "Everyone in the area should follow police advice," he added.

The Mayor of the combined authority of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Paul Bristow, noted that he had heard about the "horrific scenes" on the train. The London North Eastern Railway (LNER), which operates the east coast of the UK, confirmed that the incident occurred on one of its trains, reported the AP agency.

Passengers hid from the attackers in toilets

According to Sky News, an air ambulance was dispatched to the train. Witnesses told reporters that passengers were pushing and trampling each other, with some hiding in toilets to escape. According to one eyewitness, police used a taser when apprehending one of the suspects.
