The oil tanker heading to India with Russian crude did not reach its destination port and has been at sea for several days. According to Reuters, the vessel loaded about 40,000 tons of oil at Ust-Luga in the Baltic Sea.

After it became known the day before that an oil tanker from Russia heading to India turned around in the Baltic Sea due to new U.S. sanctions and did not reach its destination port, Reuters reported on Thursday, October 30, about a second similar case. According to traders and data from LSEG, a vessel carrying Russian oil, which was headed for India, has been drifting off the western coast of the country for several days, the agency reports.

Data from vessel tracking services Vesselfinder and Shipnext indicate that the tanker Prometei has been anchored off the coast of India near the port of Mundra since October 26. Reuters specifies that about 40,000 tons of oil were loaded onto it at the Baltic port of Ust-Luga.

A source at HPCL-Mittal Energy, which operates a refinery with a capacity of 226,000 barrels per day in the Indian city of Bathinda, told Reuters that it does not intend to trade with sanctioned firms: "We will not buy raw materials from companies that are under sanctions."

On October 29, the news agency Bloomberg reported that the tanker Furia, heading to India with Russian oil, sharply changed course while traveling through the Baltic Sea and is now idling. This occurred a week after the U.S. announced new sanctions against the Russian oil sector.
