Lecornu promises to lead France to the presidential elections in 2027.

So, Macron has appointed Sébastien Lecornu as head of government, who resigned four days ago. "The president has given the prime minister a complete carte blanche," said an RFI source from Macron's circle, specifying that this applies to both substantive negotiations with political parties and proposals for ministerial appointments.

In his message published on X, Lecornu emphasized that the "end of the political crisis and instability" in France can only be achieved "under certain conditions, drawing the necessary conclusions from recent weeks" (Lecornu was first appointed prime minister on September 9).

He listed these "conclusions":

"— All issues discussed during the consultations of recent days will be open for parliamentary debate: deputies and senators will be able to take responsibility, and discussions must be brought to completion;

— Restoring our public finances remains a priority for our future and sovereignty: no one can evade this necessity;

— All ambitions are legitimate and useful, but those who join the government must renounce presidential aspirations for 2027;

— The new government team must embody renewal and diversity of competencies."

And he promised that he would "do everything to fulfill this mission."

The decision to appoint Lecornu was criticized by the opposition, which was expected.

The coordinator of the "France Unbowed" (LFI) party, Manuel Bompard, characterized Lecornu's reappointment on the X platform as "yet another insult to the French people by an irresponsible person intoxicated by power." "We propose that left-wing deputies in parliament immediately sign a vote of no confidence (in the new government) and a new proposal for the resignation of the president of the republic," called the head of the LFI parliamentary faction, Mathilde Panot.

Deputies from the "National Rally" (RN) will "immediately" express no confidence in the new government, promised the head of this far-right party, Jordan Bardella.

"The Lecornu II government, appointed by Emmanuel Macron, who is more isolated and detached from reality than ever in the Élysée Palace, is a bad joke, a democratic disgrace, and a humiliation for the French people," Bardella stated.

"The dissolution of the National Assembly is now more inevitable than ever," assured the head of the RN faction, Marine Le Pen.

Dissatisfaction with Lecornu's reappointment was also expressed among participants in today's three-hour meeting at the Élysée Palace.

Marin Tondelier, leader of the "Europe. Ecology—Greens" party, said in an interview with Franceinfo that she sees "no arguments against expressing no confidence" in Sébastien Lecornu's government. "The very fact of his appointment in this way and that it is him is the last provocation against the French people," added the representative of the "greens."
