Braised beef with prunes is a hearty and aromatic dish that combines the tenderness of meat with the light sweetness of dried fruits. It can be served for a family dinner or a festive table.

List of Ingredients:

  • beef — 700 grams;

  • onions — three pieces;

  • garlic — five cloves;

  • black ground pepper — to taste;

  • butter — 170 grams;

  • carrot — one piece;

  • bay leaf — to taste;

  • water — one cup;

  • prunes — 100–150 grams;

  • sugar — one tablespoon.

Preparation:

To prepare the dish, cut the beef into strips about one centimeter thick and lightly pound it. Then, fry the meat in vegetable oil on both sides until a golden crust forms.

In the same skillet, sauté the carrot until soft. After that, start layering the ingredients in a cauldron: first the fried beef, which is salted and peppered, then the carrot, prunes, and chopped onion. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used.

On top of the layers, place the butter, cover the cauldron with a lid, and braise the dish for one hour.

After this time, add the chopped garlic and bay leaf to the cauldron, sprinkle with one tablespoon of sugar, cover again, and continue braising for another hour.
