Why It’s Better to Travel in the Off-Season
Experts from the travel publishing company Fodor's have identified 10 places on the planet that are best visited in the off-season to enjoy better weather, fewer tourists, and lower prices.
"Who loves crowds, unbearable heat, and high prices while traveling? Probably no one? The new trendy time for booking trips is the 'off-season,' which is loosely defined as spring and autumn. School holidays, the promise of milder weather, not to mention blooming flowers or the peak of autumn foliage – all of this means fewer tourists and lower travel costs," the authors of the selection note.
For example, in Italian Venice, where it’s so crowded in summer that there’s hardly room to drop an apple, and the heat is hellish, in spring and autumn you won’t have to wait long for a gondola ride, you can easily find a spot on an outdoor café terrace, and the outdoor temperature will range from 10 to 24 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, most tourists go to Iceland either in summer to enjoy the midnight sun or in winter to see the Northern Lights. However, even in the off-season, there are many interesting activities to find, but without the crowds.
