Itching and night sweats turned out to be signs of lymphoma in the Australian.
Australian Sumbul Ari experienced constant itching, severe fatigue, and night sweats for 11 months and found out she had cancer. The 26-year-old girl spoke about the signs of this disease in an interview with Metro.
In April 2025, Ari began to itch severely, and the sensation was so intense that it disturbed her both day and night. She scratched herself until she bled, and later she experienced fluctuations in body temperature. Over time, new symptoms appeared: Sumbul became very tired, lost her appetite, fell ill frequently, and had a persistent cough. One doctor advised her to adjust her skincare routine, while another treated her for thrush. When the itching did not subside, she was diagnosed with scabies and then eczema.
Eventually, Ari discovered a lump on her neck. "I Googled 'lump on neck,' and the search results showed 'lymphoma.' I read about the symptoms and thought, 'Oh my God, I think I have cancer,'" the girl recalls. When she visited a doctor the next day, she was referred for an urgent ultrasound, biopsy, and additional tests that revealed she had blood cancer — stage two to three Hodgkin's lymphoma.
The girl started chemotherapy and now feels much better. The itching has completely stopped, and for the first time in several months, she was able to sleep soundly at night.
