The brightest comet of the year C/2026 A1 has ceased to exist, having been absorbed by the Sun, to which it approached. This was reported by scientists. They noted that the volatile substances of the comet dispersed in the solar corona. Large fragments may have fallen onto the surface of the star.
Part of the comet's dust tail was torn off and displaced by the pressure of light into the outer corona. There it will completely disperse in the near future, the scientists emphasized.
Prior to this, it became known that Earth was hit by magnetic storms of level G1-G2. Experts considered the flare activity on the Sun to be moderate; however, at the moment it is in the risk zone.
