The new aircraft are planned to be used in Tokyo and Osaka on short tourist routes.
Brazilian company Eve Air Mobility, which is part of the Embraer group and develops electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, announced the sale of two such machines to the Japanese company AirX. AirX is a Tokyo-based company that organizes helicopter flights for private and corporate clients. It also conducts sightseeing flights and charter services along dozens of routes across Japan.
The company now plans to gradually introduce the new type of electric aircraft. The contract includes an option for expansion - AirX will be able to order an additional 50 machines if it decides to increase its fleet.
The new aircraft are planned to be used in Tokyo and Osaka on short tourist routes. The aircraft will operate as air taxis, transporting tourists over short distances in areas where ground travel is time-consuming.
For Eve, this is the first deal in the Asia-Pacific region. These days, Embraer and its subsidiary are participating in the Singapore Airshow - one of the largest international aviation exhibitions.
"We are pleased to collaborate with Eve Air Mobility and intend to jointly introduce next-generation transportation to the Japanese market," said AirX founder and CEO Kiwamu Tezuka in an official statement regarding the agreement.
According to him, the partnership confirms the company's commitment to developing eco-friendly and technological solutions. Additionally, AirX hopes to strengthen its position in the "emerging urban air mobility market."
After the announcement of the deal, Eve's shares on the Brazilian stock exchange stopped declining. The news of the new contract supported investor interest and halted the downturn.
