Apple earns 90 percent profit by replacing old batteries in iPhones. This is reported by Wccftech, citing a well-known insider under the nickname Schrödinger.

An enthusiast has obtained leaked information about the cost of the iPhone 17 Pro Max battery. According to him, the actual production cost of the 5000 milliampere-hour battery is $12. He also mentioned that the silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 6000 milliampere-hours, which is often used in Android smartphones, costs only slightly more — $18.

Wccftech journalists reminded that the cost of replacing the iPhone 17 Pro Max battery is $119. Based on this, they concluded that the corporation has an 89 percent profit margin when changing batteries in smartphones. "Even considering the lower savings due to economies of scale, this is an extraordinarily high margin that can be considered outright robbery," the authors assessed.

The article states that battery replacement is not the most expensive procedure when servicing Apple smartphones. For instance, replacing the display of the iPhone 17 Pro costs $329, while the screen of the iPhone 17 Pro Max costs $379.
