BGR stated that browsers, antivirus software, and launchers slow down computers.
Journalists from BGR have listed categories of programs that can slow down a computer. The material is available on the website of the media.
"Running programs can slow down the device by using too much RAM and CPU resources on unnecessary processes," the authors described the harm of such applications. Among the services that typically consume the most resources on a personal computer (PC), journalists listed browsers, third-party antivirus software, and game launchers.
A considerable amount of RAM is also required for screen recording software. Background utilities, such as data backup services, often consume huge resources.
Software (SW) from manufacturers of graphics cards, keyboards, and other devices was cited as a prime example of "bloatware." Such utilities often have elevated permissions and are added to startup upon installation, allowing them to run in the background and start with the computer.
"These programs are not always malicious; they simply require significant resources. In some cases, the solution is to remove them, while in others, it is to ensure they only run when needed," the authors of BGR concluded.
