Windows Update Accidentally Broke Microsoft Program

The Outlook mail service stopped working after the Windows update.

The popular Microsoft Outlook program broke after the release of a Windows update. This was noted by the publication Neowin.

On January 13, a series of patches KB5074109 was released for Windows — the release took place as part of the so-called "Patch Tuesday." It turned out that the update contained an unknown bug that caused users of the built-in mail service Outlook in the operating system (OS) to encounter problems.

It was found that the program stopped functioning properly on computers running Windows 11 25H2 and 24H2. It is likely that Microsoft engineers accidentally broke their service. The company promised to release a fix for the issue soon.

"After the forced Windows update, classic Outlook became completely unusable. Random freezes, emails not being saved, and more," one Neowin reader reported. According to Neowin journalists, the problem can be resolved by uninstalling the update.
