The first security update for outdated Windows 10 has been released in 2026.

Users of the outdated Windows 10 have been urged to install the first update for the operating system (OS) in 2026. This was reported by PCWorld.

The media journalists noted the release of update KB5073724. It has become available for users of personal computers (PCs) running Windows 10 21H2, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021, and Windows 10 22H2.

Additionally, to download the update, users must be registered in the ESU extended updates program, as Microsoft ceased regular patch releases on October 14. It does not contain any new features; however, Microsoft has urged users to install the update urgently.

Experts have determined that KB5073724 includes a secure boot feature. Windows engineers have also removed outdated and potentially dangerous drivers from the system, including agrsm64.sys (x64), agrsm.sys (x86), smserl64.sys (x64), and smserial.sys (x86).

"At the time of writing this article, Microsoft does not mention any issues relevant to private users that could cause problems when installing update KB5073724 on Windows 10 computers," the journalists concluded.
