It's Critical: A Hundred Vulnerabilities Found in Windows

Microsoft has fixed 114 vulnerabilities in Windows, including critical ones.

Microsoft has fixed 114 vulnerabilities in the Windows operating system. This was noted by The Hacker News.

Journalists observed that on January 13, the company released the first batch of patches for Windows operating systems. The authors explained that such updates are released on the so-called "Patch Tuesday" — the second Tuesday of each month. Microsoft specialists stated that they found and fixed more than a hundred vulnerabilities.

Among the 114 system flaws, 8 are classified as critical, while 106 are rated as important. Windows developers reported that 58 vulnerabilities are related to privilege escalation, 22 help disclose confidential information, 21 allow remote code execution, and 5 can expose passwords.

Typically, Microsoft does not specify the number of vulnerabilities actively exploited by hackers. However, this time the company acknowledged that the system flaw CVE-2026-20805 was used by attackers. The company noted that the vulnerability affected the desktop window manager.

"Attackers who already have access to the system can exploit vulnerabilities to bypass complex security measures, so timely software updates are crucial for maintaining trust in the security boundaries of Windows," said security expert Mike Walters in an interview with the publication.

Previously, Microsoft prohibited activating the Windows operating system by phone. By the end of 2025, the company had left only one activation method — online.
