The Grok chatbot, created by Elon Musk's xAI, will be integrated into the Pentagon's computer network by the end of January and will have access to all the department's information, including intelligence data, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegset stated.
The American military will use Musk's AI assistant alongside the already integrated Gemini chatbot from Google, "Meduza" reports.
"Very soon, the best models of artificial intelligence in the world will be integrated into all non-secret and secret networks of our department," said Hegset while speaking at the office of another Musk company, SpaceX, in Texas.
According to the head of the Pentagon, he rejects any AI models "that do not allow for waging wars." Artificial intelligence systems must operate "without ideological constraints that limit the legitimate use of military force," Hegset added.
Pete Hegset's statement came amid a new scandal involving the Grok chatbot, which users on X massively used to generate sexualized images on the social network. Governments of several countries demanded explanations from the social network. The UK has already launched an investigation against X, while Malaysia and Indonesia have blocked Grok. The social network announced that it made the image generation feature available only to paid subscribers.
