Experts from the American portal SlashGear listed the signs that a personal computer (PC) needs an upgrade.
The authors identified one of the signs of an outdated device as the lack of support for the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) cryptographic module. Its presence is necessary for the operation of Windows 11. They also reminded that old computers operated with hard disk drives (HDD), while solid-state drives (SSD) can provide faster performance. The material is available on the website of the media.
Additionally, 8 gigabytes of RAM was deemed an unacceptable figure for PCs — experts recommended a minimum of 16 gigabytes of memory. Another sign of a device that needs updating is the absence of universal USB Type-C ports.
Specifically, the authors noted that a low screen resolution of 720 pixels or less is a sign of an outdated laptop. They stated that even the cheapest portable computers in 2025 have a resolution of no less than 1080 pixels. In conclusion, the authors pointed out the laptop's battery life: "If your laptop cannot run without being plugged in for more than a couple of hours, it's time to upgrade to something more functional."
