Windows has introduced a memory-saving feature when using File Explorer.
Microsoft has announced that the built-in file manager in Windows 11, File Explorer, has learned to consume less memory. This was noted by the publication Windows Latest.
The media journalists found out that the new feature began testing in Windows 11 Build 26220.7523. When activated, File Explorer automatically removes duplicate file indexing operations. Microsoft explained that during the process of searching for documents through the manager's interface, the operating system will consume less RAM.
Media specialists reported that the search in File Explorer does not have a separate index or mechanism, as it is based on the Windows search indexer. Microsoft refers to its search system as smart, but sometimes it may re-index already analyzed files, which leads to increased load on the computer's RAM. Thus, with the new option, Windows will use personal computer resources more efficiently.
"This improvement is being tested and will be rolled out to users' computers in the last week of January or February," the journalists concluded.
