All PlayStation 5 consoles have cooling system issues.
Almost all models of Sony consoles released before December 2025 have a critical problem. This was stated by an enthusiast under the nickname Modyfikatorcasper on the social network X.
According to the specialist, all PlayStation 5 consoles have a thermal element that is necessary for cooling the processor, graphics accelerator, and other components of the console. However, this component is designed in such a way that over time, the liquid metal thermal paste can overheat or dry out.
As an example, the author cited his PS5 console with the number CFI-2016, which was released in 2023. Modyfikatorcasper stated that after a year and a half of use, the liquid metal on the motherboard has almost completely dried out. Because of this, the console, like other PS5 consoles, will need to be serviced at a service center, where specialists will apply a new layer of thermal paste.
The author explained that the operating conditions of the gaming device do not matter. According to him, the thermal element will dry out sooner or later — even if the console is positioned vertically or horizontally.
