New Yorker: the Israeli company Stardust wanted to extinguish the Sun.
The company Stardust has decided to dim the Sun in order to reduce the temperature on Earth. This was reported by the American magazine New Yorker.
It is specified that the company is based in Israel and registered in Delaware. The authors of this ambitious idea want to apply the principle of volcanic eruptions, where millions of tons of sulfur dioxide reflect sunlight back into space. Thus, the temperature on the planet's surface decreases.
The company characterized this scheme as "solar radiation reflection technology" or geoengineering. According to the magazine, this idea has been in the air for decades, but the company has taken a big, albeit "frightening step forward." They plan to spray innovative particles above the clouds, where they will form a kind of mirror, reducing the thermal impact of the Sun.
Meanwhile, the scientists refused to disclose the composition of their type of reflective particles, emphasizing that they are completely safe for humans and ecosystems. According to co-founder Yanai Yedwab, they do not plan to implement the developed technologies on their own, as this would require enormous costs and resources.
