Chinese Scientists Warn of Climate Catastrophe Due to Ocean Overheating 0 6

Ocean temperatures have reached record levels, and such overheating threatens a climate catastrophe. This warning was issued by Chinese scientists led by Tianyun Dong, whose research was published in the scientific journal Science Daily.

According to the study's results, marine heat waves have affected 96 percent of the world's oceans and lasted four times longer than usual. In particular, in the North Atlantic, these waves lasted for 525 days, while in the eastern Pacific, water temperatures rose by 1.63 degrees due to fluctuations.

Scientists believe that ocean overheating is linked to changes in currents, weakening winds, and reduced cloud cover. Experts warned that such abnormal indicators could signal significant changes in the planet's climate. They estimate that potentially critical ocean overheating could lead to a climate catastrophe, as it may harm marine ecosystems, kill corals, which, in turn, would affect fishing.
