A powerful magnetic storm is approaching Earth - it may become the strongest of the year

On November 7, a geomagnetic storm of level G4–G5 will hit Earth - from 'very strong' to 'extreme'. It may become one of the strongest in recent years, reports Fox Weather.

The initial forecast made by scientists without considering the plasma ejection that occurred on the night of November 6 predicted storms at levels G3–G4. After recalculating, the range of predicted disturbances shifted to G4–G5, which corresponds to extremely strong geomagnetic phenomena.

It is worth noting that the strength of geomagnetic disturbances is assessed on a five-point scale: G1 - weak manifestations, G5 - extremely strong.

Earlier, it was reported that a cloud of plasma ejected by the Sun is moving toward Earth. Scientists suggest that it will partially affect the planet from the evening of November 7 to the morning of November 8.

According to preliminary calculations, the main impact of the storm will occur on the night of November 6 to 7 and the morning of Friday.

Experts warn that the storm may cause disruptions in radio communications, fluctuations in voltage in power grids, and auroras in southern latitudes, where they are rarely observed. The situation remains under close observation by international space weather services, including NOAA and ESA.

It is important to note that magnetic storms can affect human health, especially for those suffering from cardiovascular diseases. Symptoms may include headaches, fatigue, irritability, and exacerbation of chronic illnesses.
