Noted insider and Bloomberg author Mark Gurman confirmed that the American IT giant is working on a budget laptop. The model, which will receive a simplified processor from the iPhone, is set to be unveiled in the first half of 2026. Gurman revealed that the company has already begun testing the device, which is referred to in reports as the J700.
The article states that the new affordable device will be aimed at users of compact laptops and tablets. The specialist noted that it will be priced significantly below $1,000 — the current price of the MacBook Air. Gurman mentioned that Apple is targeting a price similar to that of the iPad bundle with the Magic Keyboard — $600.
