Jeep Owners Advised Not to Park in Garages: Fire Risk

Automaker Stellantis is recalling 375,000 hybrid SUVs Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee worldwide due to a battery defect following 19 reports of fires.

The recall covers certain Jeep Wrangler 4xe models from 2020 to 2025 and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe models from 2022 to 2026.

The company also urged owners of these vehicles to park away from buildings and refrain from charging due to the fire risk. Approximately 320,000 recalled vehicles are in the United States.

The automaker stated that the batteries were manufactured by Samsung. According to the findings of an investigation conducted by Stellantis and Samsung, a fire that occurred earlier this year was caused by the same defect reported during the recall of 154,000 Jeep plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in 2024.

Samsung stated that the most likely cause is damage to the separator combined with other failures within the battery cells.
