The Chinese company XPeng has launched trial production of flying cars.
The Chinese company XPeng Aridge, which produces electric vehicles, has announced the start of trial production of flying cars, the Land Aircraft Carrier (LAC), at its factory in Guangzhou.
The first vehicle has already rolled off the assembly line. The manufacturer plans to produce up to 10,000 flying cars annually, but initially intends to limit production to half that volume.
Mass production and delivery of the models are scheduled for 2026. Full capacity will allow for the production of one vehicle every 30 minutes.
The car is an electric van with a flying module at the rear of the body, which detaches from the main body via a command from a smartphone. As explained by XPeng Aeroht Vice President Wang Tan, the design's purpose is for the owner to drive to a beautiful location, park, and then fly.
The device, which can charge from the van, is capable of lifting two people into the air, while it can accommodate up to four people. The company's Chief Manager for International Communications, Tang Fengtin, referred to it as a "ground aircraft carrier." The maximum range on a single charge is one thousand kilometers.
