The iPhone 20 will feature a design without physical buttons — they will be replaced by touch sensors.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, Apple will release a smartphone without buttons. This was announced by the well-known insider Instant Digital on the blog on Weibo.
Rumors that Apple would create a phone without physical buttons emerged several years ago. In a recent report, Instant Digital states that the IT giant is ready to radically change the design of smartphones by the 20th anniversary of the iPhone — with the release of the iPhone 20. According to the information, the new device will come without physical buttons.
The insider revealed that Apple has completed the functional testing of solid-state buttons — touch areas on the device's body with haptic feedback. The company intends to replace the power, volume control, camera control, and Action Button with such sensors.
Journalists from 9to5Mac noted that in honor of the anniversary, Apple should present a uniquely designed device. They reminded that the iPhone X, released in the year of the 10th anniversary of the brand's first smartphone, featured a design without a Home button and a "notch" on the screen.
Earlier, the insider Digital Chat Station stated that the iPhone 17e will adopt the design of the new Apple smartphones. However, the device will remain with a 60 Hz display.
