The upcoming iPhone 17e will feature the design of new Apple smartphones but will retain the old screen. This was stated by the well-known insider under the nickname Digital Chat Station.
In a blog post on Weibo, the specialist revealed that the iPhone 17e will be another cheap Apple phone and will be released in the first half of 2026. The device will have Dynamic Island — an interactive cutout in the screen that first appeared in the iPhone 14 Pro. This design element is present in all new Apple smartphones except for the 16e.
At the same time, Apple engineers do not plan to improve the display quality. Digital Chat Station is confident that the model will come with the OLED display from the iPhone 16e. The device will feature a 6.1-inch screen with a resolution of 2532x1170 pixels and a maximum brightness of 1200 nits. It will also remain at a 60 Hz refresh rate, despite the fact that all smartphones in the iPhone 17 lineup have displays with refresh rates of up to 120 Hz.
It is likely that Apple's decision is related to cost-saving on components for the future smartphone. The 16e, which was released in February, was priced at $599 (47,000 rubles).
