NATO will conduct an unprecedented large-scale experiment in Latvia

The largest NATO experiment to date on testing new defense technologies, called the "Digital Backbone Experiment" (DiBaX), will take place at the Adazi military base and virtually in several NATO member countries.

During the experiment, from October 27 to November 7, planned flights of unmanned aerial vehicles of various types and sizes will be conducted in Latvia, including the border area with Estonia.

Residents are urged not to worry upon seeing the drones and to follow information on social media, the country's Ministry of Defense reported.

The experiment will focus on the use of unmanned systems in complex operational conditions, as well as the application of artificial intelligence for target identification and situational awareness tasks.

DiBaX is the only military technology experiment of this scale that NATO has been conducting in Latvia for four years.

The NATO Allied Command Transformation is ensuring the implementation of new digital solutions in NATO procedures and operations.

The command conducts experiments to develop capabilities, as well as conceptual and operational experiments, to accelerate the implementation and realization of NATO's "digital backbone" capabilities across various alliance structures.
