Windows 11 has a new Start menu — with an adaptive design and scrolling.
Microsoft has announced a new Start menu and other updates for Windows 11. This was reported in the Windows Insider program blog.
Microsoft engineers have changed the design and features of the Start menu several times over the past few years. The company stated that builds 26100.7015 and 26200.7015 for Windows 11, which once again improved the Start menu, have become available to participants in the beta testing program. This time, specialists placed the 'All' section in a prominent position in the menu rather than in a separate area. Content in this section can be scrolled to access all installed applications.
Additionally, for user convenience, there is now an option to display programs by category or in alphabetical order. Furthermore, the Start menu window has become adaptive, meaning it automatically adjusts to the screen size. Microsoft engineers showcased the Phone Link panel, which allows users to work with a connected smartphone — whether on iOS or Android.
The blog also highlighted other minor changes. For example, the design of the battery icon on the Windows taskbar has been updated — the battery charge will now be displayed in different colors. On the main page of the File Explorer, recommended files have started to appear.
