Microsoft has released an update for Windows 11, in which the quick preview feature for files from the internet has stopped working. This was noted by Neowin.
The preview feature allows users to view the contents of files through the built-in File Explorer without opening them. However, in a series of patches released in October, Microsoft engineers modified this option, blocking the ability to preview documents downloaded from the internet.
When attempting to open such a file, a warning appears stating, "The file you are trying to preview may harm your computer. If you trust the file and the source from which it was obtained, open it to view its contents." Journalists explained that this is how Microsoft protects users from potential attacks using infected files.
The material states that documents downloaded from the web are marked as having been downloaded from the internet (Mark of the Web). This mark can be removed by right-clicking the file, selecting "Properties," and then clicking "Unblock."
At the end of October, Microsoft had to release an urgent update for Windows 11 to fix another widespread bug. The company's engineers fixed a bug that caused the keyboard and mouse to not work in Windows recovery mode.
