Nikkei Asia: Apple has almost halted production of the ultra-thin iPhone Air.
The American corporation Apple has reduced the production volumes of the iPhone Air to a minimum. This is reported by Nikkei Asia.
Sources from the agency have found that the U.S. IT giant is not interested in producing the ultra-thin smartphone and has once again slowed down production. According to them, the iPhone Air is at the same level as devices in the final stages of production, meaning the smartphone is being produced in small batches.
The report states that the share of Air among all new smartphones produced by Apple is less than 10 percent. This means that only one in every ten phones produced by Apple this fall is the iPhone Air. The company has almost halted production of the model due to low demand.
"On the contrary, demand for the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models has exceeded all expectations," insiders said. According to their information, Apple has even increased the order for the production of the base model iPhone 17 by 5 million units. At the same time, sources from Nikkei Asia noted that Tim Cook's company is not very upset about the failure of the iPhone Air. The corporation believes that the ultra-thin device was released to "pave the way" for the first foldable iPhone, which will have a similar design.
