A Record Sales of Electric Vehicles Set Worldwide – Over 2 Million in a Month

In September 2025, 2.1 million electric vehicles were sold worldwide, the highest monthly figure in history. Such results were made possible by record demand in major markets such as the USA, China, Europe, and South Korea.

From January to September, electric vehicle sales increased by 26% year-on-year, reaching 14.7 million units.

Electric vehicle sales for the first nine months of 2025 grew: • in China – by 24% (9 million units); • in Europe – by 32% (3 million units); • in North America – by 11% (1.5 million units); • in other countries around the world – by 48% (1.2 million units).

The European market reached a record level in September – 427,000 electric cars, which is 36% more than last year and 55% more than in August.

In the UK, the growth was supported by new registration numbers and a government grant for purchasing EVs introduced in July 2025. In Germany, a new surge in sales is expected following the adoption of a €3 billion stimulus package that will take effect next year.

The American market showed a second consecutive monthly high – sales increased by 66% year-on-year. Buyers rushed to take advantage of federal tax credits that expired on September 30.

Analysts expect a decline in demand in the fourth quarter – manufacturers, such as Hyundai, are already lowering prices to retain customers.
