Apple acknowledged the iPhone Air as a complete failure

The Elec: Apple reduced production of the iPhone Air due to low demand.

Apple executives are disappointed with their own smartphone, the iPhone Air. This was reported by the Korean publication The Elec, citing the Japanese analytical agency Mizuho Securities.

The ultra-thin Air, unlike other new Apple smartphones, has failed in sales. The report states that the $1,000 device (82,000 rubles) did not interest consumers, prompting the IT giant to cut production of the device by one million units. At the same time, Tim Cook's company increased production of other iPhones by two million units.

The report indicates that sales of the flagship iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max exceed sales of their predecessors for the same period in 2024. Additionally, the base iPhone 17, available for $799 (65,000 rubles), is much more successful than last year's iPhone 16.

Mizuho Securities reported that Apple initially planned to produce 88 million units of the iPhone 17 series smartphones in 2025. However, it later revised its plans to 94 million phones.

The Air model features a titanium and glass body that is 5.6 millimeters thick, a 6.5-inch OLED display, and the flagship A19 Pro processor. However, the gadget has a reduced-capacity battery, a single camera, and only one speaker.
