The Elec: Apple has postponed the release of the foldable iPhone from 2026 to 2027.
Apple is highly likely to postpone the release of its foldable smartphone. This was reported by the Korean publication The Elec.
Authoritative insiders, including Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo, have repeatedly stated that the foldable iPhone will be released in 2026. Journalists examined a report from the analytical company Mizuho Securities, which states that Apple has not yet finalized the design of the future device. The process has dragged on: the design of the iPhone Fold will determine which components need to be procured.
According to sources, the company may not be able to establish supply chains for all components in time. For this reason, if the situation does not change soon, the release of the foldable iPhone will be postponed, most likely to 2027.
Mizuho Securities also learned some specifications of the device. The model, which may be called the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra, will feature a 7.58-inch internal display. The external screen will have a diagonal of 5.38 inches.
Journalists from The Elec noted that the foldable smartphone will simultaneously have both the smallest and the largest screens in the lineup. Currently, the smartphone with the most compact screen is the iPhone 16e (6.1 inches), while the largest is the iPhone 17 Pro Max (6.9 inches).
