The foldable iPhone will feature a unique casing made of titanium and aluminum.
Apple's first foldable smartphone will feature a unique casing made from a new alloy. This was reported by the specialized publication 9to5Mac.
Renowned analyst Jeff Pu revealed that the casing of the foldable iPhone will be made from a new titanium and aluminum alloy. This new alloy will allow for high structural strength while maintaining a relatively low weight. Currently, titanium is only used in the iPhone Air, while the flagship iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max have aluminum casings.
At the beginning of the year, reputable insider Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the secret to the strength of the iPhone Fold will lie in its design. The device is expected to feature a hinge made from titanium and steel, while the casing itself will be made of pure titanium.
It was previously reported that the first foldable iPhone will have a book-like form factor. The main display will have a diagonal of up to 7.8 inches, while the external screen will be 5.5 inches. The device will also come with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor instead of Face ID. The foldable flagship is expected to be announced in the fall of 2026.
