Microsoft fixed an issue that prevented Windows from shutting down after an update.

Microsoft has announced that it has finally fixed a Windows update issue. This was reported by Windows Central.

The issue pertains to the operating system (OS) update process. During the installation of the update, Windows may prompt the user to complete the update by clicking the "Update and Shut Down" button. It is expected that the computer will install the necessary files and shut down. However, instead, the device restarts.

"This problem has plagued Windows 11 users for over two years," noted the authors of the publication. Their colleagues from TechRadar emphasized that similar issues were also noticeable in Windows 10. Microsoft stated that it has finally managed to fix the error — the fix is already available in the beta version of the OS and will soon be rolled out to all users.

"The update and shut down feature is helpful when you have a Windows update waiting to be installed and you have finished working on your computer," the media authors noted. According to them, it is very convenient to be able to press a button and walk away while the computer completes the update process and shuts down on its own.
