Emmanouil Karalis achieved the second-best result in pole vaulting in the history of athletics.
At the Greek Indoor Athletics Championships, Karalis cleared a height of 6 meters 17 centimeters, surpassing the best result of the world season set by Belarusian athlete Matvey Volkov (6.01).
The Greek improved his personal record by 9 centimeters.
Only the world record holder, Swedish athlete Armand Duplantis, has jumped higher in the history of this discipline (6.30).
