Norwegian athletes won one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals on Friday at the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, maintaining their first place in the overall medal standings, reports LETA.
On Friday, skier Johannes Høsflot Klæbo won Norway's third and eighth gold medal at these Games, while the main surprise was figure skater Mikhail Shaidorov, who claimed victory in figure skating and brought Kazakhstan its first medal. One gold medal was also won on Friday by France, Australia, the Czech Republic, Japan, and Great Britain.
Norway now has a total of 18 medals, including eight gold, three silver, and seven bronze.
Italy holds second place with six gold, three silver, and nine bronze medals, followed by the USA with four gold, seven silver, and three bronze awards.
Following the Americans in the medal standings are France, Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland, each having also won four gold medals.
Latvian athletes have won one silver medal, placing them 21st in the overall standings. Medals have been awarded to representatives from 24 countries.
The Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo will continue until February 22.
