Warriors Trade Porzingis

The Golden State Warriors will trade forward Jonathan Kuminga and guard Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks for Latvian center Kristaps Porzingis, sources told ESPN on Wednesday, LETA reports citing ESPN.

According to ESPN analyst Shams Charania, in recent months the Warriors have targeted Porzingis, while the Hawks and coach Quin Snyder have shown interest in Kuminga.

30-year-old Porzingis joined the Hawks before the current season as a result of a trade from the Boston Celtics, with whom he became an NBA champion in 2024. Due to injuries and illnesses, the Latvian has participated in only 16 of the team's 52 games this season.

On average, Porzingis scored 17.1 points per game, grabbed 5.1 rebounds, and made 2.7 assists.

After 10 seasons in the NBA, the Warriors will be Porzingis's sixth team. The native of Liepaja has previously played for the New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics, and Hawks.

23-year-old Kuminga is in his fifth season in the NBA and has exclusively represented the Golden State club until now. The forward started the first 12 games of this season in the starting lineup, but after a series of failures, Kuminga was moved to the bench and has mostly not seen the court since mid-November, mainly due to health issues.

This season, Kuminga has played in 20 games, averaging 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

33-year-old guard Buddy Hield has played 44 games this season, averaging eight points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

This was Hield's second season with the Warriors; he previously played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, and New Orleans Pelicans.

Hield has won the three-point contest at the NBA All-Star Game twice, making long-range shots with a career accuracy of 39.5%.

It is also reported that as part of the deal, Warriors center Trayce Jackson-Davis will move to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for a second-round draft pick this year.

Jackson-Davis, who is in his third season in the NBA, has participated in 36 games this season, averaging 4.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game.

The Warriors, with a record of 27-24, are in eighth place in the Western Conference, while the Hawks, with a win-loss ratio of 25-27, are ninth in the East.

The Warriors will play their next game early Friday morning Latvian time against the Phoenix Suns.
