The world’s number one player from Belarus, Arina Sobolenko, remains in fourth place in terms of career prize money earned.
In the updated WTA ranking as of October 13, Sobolenko has a total of $42,480,621 in prize money.
At the top, with a significant lead, is the legendary American Serena Williams ($94,816,730).
In second place, moving up from third, is the world’s second-ranked player, Polish Iga Swiatek ($42,945,490), pushing Venus Williams ($42,867,364) down. Sobolenko and the older of the Williams sisters are now separated in the rankings by less than $400,000.
In fifth place is Romania's Simona Halep ($40,236,618), in sixth is another Belarusian, Victoria Azarenka ($38,890,473), and in seventh is Russian Maria Sharapova ($38,777,962).
Sobolenko previously lost for the first time in her career at the WTA 1000 tournament in Wuhan. Her 20-match winning streak was ended by the world’s sixth-ranked player, American Jessica Pegula, who defeated Arina in the semifinals with a score of 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).
Before that, in Wuhan, the Belarusian won three consecutive titles in 2018, 2019, and 2024. The tournament was not held from 2020 to 2023 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
