Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs stated that his country aims to reach the Ukrainian level in drone defense by the end of the year. He made this remark during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels.

The Ukrainian portal "European Truth" asked Kulbergs what he believes is Ukraine's role in assisting Latvia regarding drones that enter its territory.

In response, he noted that there is no other country that could help better than Ukraine in this matter. "We need to adopt this knowledge. We should not experiment with something else when someone already has a ready solution," Kulbergs said.

"The agreement means that specialists will be present in Latvia to assess our situation: how prepared we are, what we lack in terms of equipment. The goal is to ensure that by the end of the year we have the maximum capabilities to do what Ukraine does," he stated.

He also emphasized that this agreement signifies not just a one-time arrangement, but close cooperation. "I call it a 'subscription': when there is someone who possesses the necessary knowledge on a daily basis. We know that drones are evolving not monthly, but weekly. We must have the latest updates, as I say, to better defend ourselves. After all, we know that the enemy learns just as quickly," Kulbergs said.

The Prime Minister of Latvia noted that this means combating drones, their detection, surveillance, and complete coverage by a defense system.

Rutte, for his part, emphasized that Latvia is taking a leading role in implementing the most modern technologies, and "this helps us as an alliance to become stronger and more effective."
