The Chairman of the Urban Development Committee of the Riga City Council, Edgars Bergholcs, emphasized that the priorities of the new strategy should be the development of entrepreneurship and the growth of the capital's population.

"More people and more investments - these are the priorities that should be at the center of Riga's development strategy, because without people and investments, the city will become a museum," said Bergholcs.

At the same time, Riga must clearly articulate its advantages to convince both local and foreign investors to invest.

The strategy development process includes various events involving the public. On June 11, the first forum for entrepreneurs, "See Riga. See Opportunities," took place, where representatives from various sectors discussed enhancing the capital's competitiveness and developing the entrepreneurial environment.

During discussions on the development of science and innovation, experts noted that Riga needs a targeted strategy to attract international talent and create conditions for highly qualified specialists to develop their businesses and innovate.

In discussions about industrial development and the economic future of Riga, experts pointed out that the city needs a clear industrial development strategy, while in discussions about the development of business centers, it was noted that local government needs to change its approach to urban environment development by planning entire integrated districts where residents and businesses have access to all necessary infrastructure and services.

It was also noted during discussions that when determining priority development areas, the city must timely plan and provide the necessary infrastructure, as its availability is one of the main conditions for the successful implementation of construction projects. It is also important to ensure that construction processes are faster, more transparent, and predictable for investors.
