The Saeima Foreign Affairs Committee is preparing a draft statement for the parliament in connection with the NATO summit in Ankara.

After the approval of the Kulbergs government, the Saeima deputies return to their usual work in committees. Thus, on the third attempt, the deputies of the Economic Affairs Committee will try to consider amendments to the Consumer Rights Protection Law, including the "language" amendments. At the last meeting, it was not possible to discuss these amendments due to a lack of quorum - less than half of the committee's members attended the meeting.

Let us remind you that the amendments proposed by the National Alliance effectively prohibit buyers and sellers from communicating with each other, for example, in Russian! An alternative option from the Ministry of Justice does allow service workers and consumers to agree on the language of communication themselves. However, all written information will henceforth be only in Latvian and the official languages of the EU.

Meanwhile, the Saeima subcommittee on comprehensive defense will discuss the transformation of the armed forces in light of new challenges. Apparently, the discussion will focus on the military's readiness to shoot down enemy drones and manage drones.

The Mandates Committee will discuss the acquisition of "soft mandates" by those who will replace the deputies in the Saeima who have become ministers in the new government.
