"Serious troubles for Kulbergs' government may begin here," noted the well-known expert Janis Ikstens, looking ahead to the new political turn in Diena.
It seems that Kulbergs' government will already be supported in the Saeima. But, if we look at this process not from the perspective of some intrigues in Vecpilsēta, but from the perspective of a substantive and rational process aimed at reducing the problems that Latvia is currently facing...".
There is also the option that the new government will be based on the votes of 'Latvia First', which Ja. Ikstens does not rule out.
The 'United List', the analyst believes, has reasons for concern. This political force "does not want and it would also be extremely disadvantageous for them in terms of the upcoming elections for Kulbergs to fail, as Kulbergs is the nominated candidate for prime minister in the elections".
"If he fails now, it would certainly be a blow. In this context, it seems politically wiser to promote Maris Kucinskis for this 'suicidal' government, and to postpone Kulbergs until the elections".
