Ainars Šlesers held the pre-election congress of the "Latvia First" party.

It so happened that on the day when the president was holding consultations on the "temporary" government, the most popular party in the country, according to ratings, was holding its pre-election congress - "Latvia First." Its leader and candidate for prime minister, Ainars Šlesers, stated the day before that the goal of the "Latvia First" party is not to participate in the creation of a temporary government until the elections - for a few months - but to win the elections on October 3 and then form a stable government.

"It’s time to change the power in the country! We need a revolution - peaceful, within the law, of course," emphasized Ainars Šlesers.

Several important theses from prime minister candidate Ainars Šlesers:

  1. "I have a clear action plan to boost the economy, attract investors, and create new jobs."

  2. Reducing taxes while decreasing control will lead to the desired effect: budget revenues will increase! The personal income tax, corporate income tax, and capital gains tax should be only 10 percent.

  3. We need a united society, so we do not divide people by their native language - all citizens of Latvia are equal and have the right to develop their language and culture. The state language, in this case, is one - Latvian.

Ainars Šlesers also presented his government, naming candidates for ministerial positions. To demonstrate that the party has a large bench of substitutes, three candidates were nominated for the post of Minister of Welfare - Ramona Petraviča, Andrey Klementyev, and Ainars Baštiks. For the head of the merged Ministry of Defense and Interior, former police lieutenant colonel Edmunds Zivtiņš, a member of the Saeima, was nominated. Šlesers wants to see the former head of the Freeport of Riga, Leonid Loginov, as the Minister of Communications. The Ministry of Justice could be headed by Doctor of Law Ringolds Balodis, while the Ministry of Education could be led by Saeima member Ilze Stobova...
